Black Earth Soil Give Away & Baby Oak tree give away

Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 10AM-2PM
Event will be held at 124 Orchard St. The DPW office parking lot. Please bring a Watertown ID or proof of residency.

Watertown is offering free finished compost to residents. Black Earth’s finished compost was created using food scraps from Watertown residents. We are closing the circle and providing soil back to residents to use in backyards and gardens. This is open to all residents, even if they are not enrolled in the food scrap collection program. Please bring your own buckets and shovel to take soil away in. Initial limit of 10 gallons (2 five-gallon buckets per person). Available while supplies last at the event. Come early if you are very interested in getting soil!

The forestry department will be giving away baby oak trees for residents to plant on their own property. These will be the responsibility of the resident to water and care for. The City will not be providing any additional support for tree care, and the tree must be planted on non-city property. Trees are available while supplies last. One tree per household.
