Annual Road Program
Each year, the Department of Public Works reviews street conditions to develop its annual road reconstruction program. The program is based on a number of factors such as street and sidewalk conditions as well as past and planned utility work. The proposed program is presented to the City Council Committee on Public Works, which then reviews and makes recommendations to the entire City Council.

Roads affected by the FY26 Annual Road Program have undergone necessary utility work and will now undergo full reconstruction and improvement to meet Watertown's Complete Streets standards. These improvements include repaving and re-striping, new granite curbing, traffic flow and safety enhancements, stormwater management infrastructure, and beautification. More information and specific dates will be sent to affected abutters at least 5 days before the start of work. All dates and durations are estimates and subject to change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.

Per City Council directive, roads that undergo full reconstruction also receive granite curb installation, new concrete sidewalks and driveway aprons, and ADA-compliant accessible ramps.
